About Timberlea
Timberlea is a suburban community within the Halifax Regional Municipality, located approximately 15 km west of downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. History
- Originally inhabited by the Mi’kmaq people, who utilized the area’s rich natural resources for centuries.
- European settlers began to arrive in the late 1700s, with timber harvesting being the primary industry, giving the community its name, “Timberlea.”
- The arrival of the Halifax and Southwestern Railway in the early 1900s further boosted the community’s growth.
